‘Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Monday rejected Director General of Police’s statement in which he blamed separatists for braid chopping incidents and termed it “pot calling the kettle black.”
“In presence of lakhs of Indian troops, be it CRPF, BSF, STF or army, the incidents of braid chopping have become mysterious. The police chief’s statement in which he levelled baseless allegations about the involvement of pro-freedom people is akin to Ulta chor kotwal ko datein (pot calling the kettle black,” he said in a statement issued here.
The octogenarian leader said that the DGP was trying to cover-up police department’s “failures” in nabbing those behind the incidents.
Strongly condemning braid chopping, he said that no reasonable person can tolerate such incidents.
