NEW DELHI: Minister for Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali on Tuesday met Indian Minister for Information & Broadcasting (I&B), and Textiles Smriti Zubin Irani to discuss wide range of issues related to media in J&K.
Zulfkar Ali, who’s also minister of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and requested the Union Minister to help in highlighting the positive aspects of J&K on TV channels through Ministry of I&B.
He apprised the Smriti with the proposed digitization of records, publications, audio and video speeches of State’s Information Department, the proposal for which has already been submitted to the Ministry. He requested for speedy approval of Rs 4.34 crore for the project.
For strengthening of J&K Doordarshan and All India Radio Kendras, Zulfkar requested the Union Minister to strengthen stations by developing its infrastructure and hiring more human resource. He insisted upon the Union Minister to use her good offices for organizing special recruitment drive to fill up the vacant posts in the two stations.
The J&K Information Minister also requested for highlighting various centrally sponsored schemes running in the State through wide publicity by organizing mass awareness programs in different parts of the state.
He also made a plea for allocation of more time to local bulletins of Doordarshan Jammu/Kashmir to accommodate developmental news.
Zulfkar also requested for setting up of more community radio stations and also funds for IEC should be transferred to DIPR, J&K for its effective and efficient utilization and better publicity.
The Minister assured her full support in fulfilling demands highlighted by the Zaulfikar, an official spokesman said.
