Condolence meeting held to mourn demise of Al-Haj Nazir Ahmad Zargar; INS management express sympathy

Srinagar: Director General of Police S P Vaid on Tuesday said that true picture about braid chopping incidents, especially in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, would be “very soon” unravelled by the Special Investigation Team, constituted for the purpose.
“We have constituted a SIT and very soon the true picture will emerge,” the top cop said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of an official function at DPL Pulwama where three militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit stormed last month and left dead eight forces’ personnel, including four CRPF men and as many policemen, before being killed after an 18-hour-long gunfight.
So far, the police have been clueless about increasing incidents of hair-cutting in the state.
On Monday the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti asked the DGP to constitute a special team to “identify and bring to justice” the persons behind the mysterious incidents in Kulgam and other places in the state.
She asked the DGP to speed up the probe in such cases which have caused panic among young girls and their parents.
Subsequently, police constituted a special investigating team to probe the incidents in Kulgam and appealed to people “not pay heed to rumours spread by anti-social elements.”
In a statement, a police spokesman said that the SIT was constituted by superintendent of police Kulgam to investigate these cases under the supervision of additional SP Kulgam.
Police have also requested the public to come forward to help the police in speedy investigation. A helpline has also been established at police control room Kulgam which will remain open 24×7, he said. “People are advised to call on +91 7051510660 for any help and assistance,” he added.
