Condolence meeting held to mourn demise of Al-Haj Nazir Ahmad Zargar; INS management express sympathy

Srinagar: In a first move of its kind order, the Government Medical College Srinagar on Tuesday issued a circular, announcing to bar all journalists from entering all associated hospitals in Kashmir Valley.
“It is impressed upon all the Medical Superintendents of Associated hospitals that they should not allow any journalists to enter the wards or operation theatres especially at the time of ward rounds or management of mass casualties,” reads a circular issued by Prof Samia Rashid, Principal and Dean GMC Srinagar reads.
The Principal said that press briefings that are desirable will be conveyed by the concerned Medical Superintendent at ‘appropriate time’.
The decision, the circular says has been taken as journalists ‘unwarrantedly enter into wards/sections and other critical areas without seeking proper permission’ and “it has caused lot of inconvenience to the consulting physicians while performing their professional duties besides patients too feel harassed’.
