Srinagar: All Traders Joint Coordination Committee, an amalgam trade bodies and transporters of Batmaloo, Monday took out a protest march against the shifting of the general bus stand from Batmaloo to Parimpora on the city outskirts.

A heavy contigent of police was deployed in the area to thwart any untoward incident in the area.
General Secretary and spokesman of the association Mohammad Yaseen told INS that if the government wanted to shift the general bus stand they should have taken all the stake holders associated with the stand into confidence.
“There are over 5000 shopkeepers in and around the bus stand and what has the state government thought about them. We were assured rehabilitation by the district administration but it is a long process which may take years to complete and until then the bus stand shouldn’t be relocated. It is a matter of our livelihoods The state government should rehabilitate us first and then shift the bus stand,” Yaseen said.
Meanwhile the association has decided to continue their strike till their demands are met.
