Srinagar: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Monday said that Government of India was pursuing ‘warlike’ policy by providing paramilitary CRPF with helicopters and police with armoured vehicles and that it’s contrary to the Home Minster Rajnath’s statement of turning Kashmir into paradise again.
“Providing helicopters loaded with war heads to CRPF, lethal weaponry and armoured vehicles to police is totally a brazen military action which provides an ample proof that authorities in Delhi are hell bent to suppress and subjugate aspirations and fundamental rights of distressed people in Jammu and Kashmir and this warlike policy is quite contrary to the statements of Indian home minister wherein he has said that we will change Kashmir into a paradise,” Geelani said in a statement issued here.
“It illustrates that they are least concerned for the people and are solely interested with land and its resources only.”
The octogenarian leader also asked government of India to shun military approach to Kashmir which he reiterated was a “humanitarian” issue.
“Kashmir is a humanitarian issue which can be peacefully resolved through the Indian Independence Act of 1947, that can guarantee peace and over all prosperity for more than one billion population living in subcontinent,” he said, underling that the “escalating” tension between two nuclear powers of the sub-continent poses a great threat not only to widespread destruction of a large chunk of human population but also to the global peace.
“India, instead of trampling fundamental rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, should read writing on wall and fulfil its commitment pledged before international community,” he said and “urged and suggested authorities in New Delhi to shun their arrogant and military approach and implement political standards for the resolution of Kashmir issue.”
“Any forced or military solution to the issue is unacceptable for the people of the state,” he said.
