Scattered light rains forecast in Kashmir, dry weather in Jammu

Srinagar: Members of Kashmir Economic Alliance( KEA) Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against alleged atrocities committed against Rohingya Muslims in  the Rakhine state of Myanmar.

Addressing media persons President KEA Farooq Ahmad Dar said that they are protesting against the brutal killing of young, women and children in Burma. He said that powerful organisations like the United Nations  are silently watching the genocide of Rohingya muslims in Burma and acting as a mute spectator to the death and mayhem launched against the Muslims in that country.

“Had it been Christian, Buddhist or any other community the response of the world community would have been different,” Dar said.

Dar also expressed concern over the statement of Minister of State for Home affaits (MoS Home) who recently had said that all the Rohingya Muslims living in India are illegal immigrants and hence need to be deported.

The protesters later tried to march towards the city centre. However they were intercepted by the police and were detained.

Meanwhile Chairman of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that September 8th would be observed as a solidarity day with the Rohingya Muslims across Kashmir
