Cordon and Search Operation has been launched by government forces in many villages of Shopian district of south Kashmir on Tuesday .

Villages, including Nagbal, Urpara, Dachoo, Homehuna, Hushunpora and Nolai Poshwari,  are under siege in Imamsahib area of the district, reports said.

The joint operation by 44 Rashtriya Rifles of Army and Special Operations Group, SOG, ImamSahib and Zainapora was launched in the wee hours.

A similar kind of operation was launched by government forces on Aug 19 in at least ten villages Shopian district.

The Aug 19 CASO was a joint operation of 62 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operation Group, Central Reserve Police Force and jammu and Kashmir police.

According to sources the operation was carried out in in Chanpora, Mantribug, Zaipora, Pratabpora, Takipora, Ranipora, Dangam, Wangam and Keller areas of Shopian.
