Srinagar: Rejecting claims Intelligence agencies had tipped of state police about a Jaish e Mohammad squad trying to cross LoC being lead by a Paksitani commando, Inspector General of Police Tuesday said ‘there is no credibility in the report’.
On September 4, Delhi based news paper had quoted intelligence sources that two weeks before Intelligence agencies had dropped the information with Jammu and Kashmir Police that Haji Ali Asghar, a former junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Pakistan Army’ s elite special operations unit, the Special Services Group (SSG) is heading a group of 13 Jaish millitants who were mulling to cross Line of Control to mount attacks on security establishments in Punjab and J&K.
The newspaper cited intelligence report that the group of millitants are planning to attack an army installation and an air Force Base in Punjab or J&K.
Talking to INS, IGP said that he is not aware of any such intelligence reports regarding the former Pakistan Army man heading a group of 13 Jaish millitants.
“I don’t know from where media gets these things. There is no credibility in these news reports,” Khan said.
Pertinently eight security men were killed in a fidayeen attack on District Police Lines Pulwama in South Kashmir on August 26th. Jaishe Mohammad millitant ( JeM) group had claimed responsibility for the attack.
Following the attack the J&K Police had sounded an alert across Kashmir fearing more attacks.
In a recent press conference IG Muneer Khan had said that JeM is taking a lead role in carrying out attacks on police officers and soldiers.
