600 residents and pilgrims were saved in a fire incident that occurred in Makkah.

On Monday Saudi Arabian civil defence service said that the cause of fire was a faulty air conditioning unit on the eighths floor of a hotel in the Azaziyah District of Makkah .

Civil defence spokesman Nayef al-Sharif, was quoted by media reports, saying  there have been no casualties in the fire.

“All 600 residents, most of them from Turkey and Yemen for the hajj pilgrimage, were evacuated and have since returned to the hotel,” Sharif said.

The pilgrimage Hajj is a pillar of Islam which a Muslims must perform at least once if he has the capability.
