Srinagar: Dr Naseem Geelani, the son of veteran pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani Thursday said that his dealings, accounts and assets are quite open and transparent.
In a parceled statement to news agency CNS, Naseem Geelani has described the NIA summon unruly and rowdy. “The recent summon from India’s National Investigating Agency (NIA) to me at such a short notice exposes the unruly behavior of this investigating agency,” he said.
“As an employee of SKUAST-Kashmir, the legal fairness demands that I should have been called if necessary through my head of the Institute, as I can’t leave the station without proper permission, but this was not done,” he said.
He said that his bank balance at the time of receiving NIA notice is less than Rs 500 while he has a loan liability of Rs 23 lakhs. “I have nothing to hide. Our family has always been subjected to torture and harassment and it continues unabated,” he said.
Naseem Geelani, who is Assistant Professor at Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology said that his only fault is that he is the son of Syed Ali Geelani. “Let the agencies prosecute me for being his son and stop maligning my image in media,” he said and added that he is apolitical.
“I have nothing to do with any political outfit. I visit my father’s residence cum office at Hyderpora twice a day because I am not living with my father. Like every Kashmiri, I too have been feeling the brunt of State atrocities. I challenge the government to prove a single allegation against me in a fair trial,” Dr Naseem Geelani said. (CNS)
