Srinagar: President Awami Itihaad Party and legislator Engineer Rasheed has accused security forces of starting a new series of ‘state terrorism’ against people in the entire valley.
While interacting with various deputations in Srinagar on Monday he condemned the harassment of teachers and students by troopers of 2nd RR at a private school in HMT without any provocation.
Er Rasheed said, “ In the name of giving protection to army convoy, not only that people travelling in private and public vehicles face a lot of humiliation from Qazigund to Karnah, but their precious time is being wasted in the name of giving safe passage to convoys. As such on most of the occasions students fail to make it to their schools and examination halls well in time.” Er Rasheed also accused army of terrorizing and brutalizing common masses in entire Shopian district.
Er Rasheed said, “There can be nothing disgraceful than the fact that army has been given free hand to thrash and drag residents mostly youth from their houses in every area of Shopian district. During nights army pelts stones on the houses and thus provokes the locals. Those entering mosques to offer evening and morning prayers are often humiliated and ordered to prove their identity.”
He added that all these acts are shameful and speak of the sick and arrogant mindset security agencies especially army has developed, the reason being that they get appreciation from everywhere outside Kashmir for humiliating and terrorizing Kashmiris. Er Rasheed reiterated that all these colonial measures would never help New Delhi in establishing its writ on the ground as Kashmiris have decided to pay the cost whatsoever for getting their Right to Self Determination.
