SRINAGAR: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said there is a need to involve students of Jammu and Kashmir in extracurricular activities for their overall development.
He said the students of the State have potential to excel in different spheres of life as they have displayed their mental acumen on various occasions.
“Along with formal education, there is need to involve students in extracurricular activities for their overall development,” Bukhari said, adding, “These activities will lead to their involvement in constructive activities.”
The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of three-day Junior Golf Coaching Camp for students at Royal Springs Golf Course to learn basics of Golf.
About 150 school students from various schools across Kashmir are attending the coaching camp which is the joint venture by Royal Springs Golf Course and Professional Golfers’ Association of India (PGAI). The coaching camp is sponsored by JK Tourism, PGAI and Four Points.
Bukhari said the School Education is coming up with various sports activities including inter-district and inter-state tournaments in which more students will be involved.
Class A instructor, Romit Bose, President PGAI, Vickey Shah, President J&K Golfers Association, Mushtaq Burza, Retired Justice, Justice Muzaffar Jan, secretary Royal Springs Golf Course, Ghalib Mohiudin Shah, Director Education, GN Itoo, Organizer, Danish Aman and principals of various schools were present on the occasion.
Instructor Bose said along with the fundamentals of Golf, the students will be taught various aspects of life through this game.
