Srinagar: A gun fight started between Government forces and militants at Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday afternoon.

Official sources told news agency GNS that on a specific information about the presence of some militants, a joint team of Army and SOG cordoned off lonepora in Mattan this afternoon.

As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the area opened fire triggering of an encounter.

When reports last came in, the intermittent exchange of firing was going.

Meanwhile authorities blocked the internet services including 2G/3G And 4G in wake of encounter in the southern district as a precautionary. (GNS)
