Ahead of Burhan Wani’s anniversary, religious scholar booked under PSA

Anantnag: Ahead of first anniversary of popular militant commander Burhan Wani, authorities have slapped Public Safety Act on a South Kashmir’s religious preacher and shifted him to outside Kashmir Jail.
Mufti Shabir Ahmed Qasmi, a resident of Khiram village of Islamabad district is the principal Darul Uloom Zia-ul-Quran at Hugam Bijbehara.
According to his family members he received a phone call from police station Sri Gufwara wherein the caller asked him to report at police station. “Shortly after reaching there, he was taken to Joint Interrogation Centre Islamabad. Authorities after booking him under PSA shifted him to Kathua Jail Jammu.”
Mufti Shabir Ahmed reportedly gave a fiery speech on the death anniversary of cop turned Hizul Mujahdeen militant Naseer Ahmed Pandit at Karimabad village of Pulwama district wherein he asked people and militants to openly support militant commander Zakir Musa. His video had gone viral and accessed by millions of people in and outside Kashmir.
Confirming his arrest under PSA, a police official said that step has been taken in the interest of public order. (CNS)
