Srinagar: Congress Legislative Party leader Nawang Rigzin Jora in the floor of house today said that the way Govt is trying to implement GST, it will certainly erode the Special Status of the State, besides harming the fiscal autonomy of the State, which is not acceptable to Congress.
He said GST is no doubt Congress baby, but the implementation of GST in its present form will certainly harm the fiscal autonomy, besides eroding Article 370, which can make things worse in the State.
He said Congress Party is committed to safeguard the special status of the State and it will not allow the Govt to play politics on GST inorder to save it’s chair.
Speaking on the occasion MLA Usman Majeed accused the Govt for creating confusion and apprehension in the minds of people on implementation of GST, Congress Party inorder to safeguard the fiscal autonomy of the State will continue to oppose GST in is present form. We urge upon the Govt to bring a separate legislation on the implementation of GST and ensure that special status of the state is not harmed in any way.
MLA G.M. Saroori also cornered the Govt over GST and blamed it for playing with the special status of the State by enacting different stories on GST, which is certainly going to damage the fiscal autonomy and special status of the State. He warned the Government of serious consequences and asked the Govt to bring a separate legislation and assure the people that special status and fiscal autonomy of the State is not affected in any way.
