Srinagar: Expressing dismay over the delay in disbursal of assistance under social security schemes CPI (M) Leader and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said that government has shown its insensitiveness towards the concerns of less privileged sections of society.
Voicing his concern over the plight of Old Aged, widows, physically challenged and construction workers he said that these are the most vulnerable among the poor adding that thousands of such beneficiaries have not received their dues for months together.
“It is irony of sorts that on one hand government claims to have cleared all liabilities on account of salary, pension, honorarium, stipend and scholarships before Eid and on the other hand the less privileged including old aged, widows, physically challenged ,construction workers, ASHA’s, casual, need based and daily rated workers are craving for their dues.”
The CPI (M) leader said that it is unfortunate that bills on account of payment for works completed under MGNREGA and work done claims of contractors in other departments are pending leaving them high and dry. (KNS)
