Srinagar: Authorities on Saturday imposed restrictions in Srinagar parts, in Pampore and in other sensitive areas of the Valley while the rest of the areas observed complete shutdown against the civilian killings on Friday.
The restrictions were imposed in the sensitive areas of the Valley including the Srinagar areas falling under the jurisdiction of five Police Stations including Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, M R Gunj and Rainawari.
The restrictions according to the officials were imposed to thwart any possible protests against the killings.
The civilians were killed during an encounter in Arwani area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.
The slain youth and the three militants killed in an encounter were laid to rest amid massive protests.
Thousands of people also attended the funeral prayers of the slain militants and the youth.
The militants also appeared in the funeral of the militants and gave gun salutes as well.
Meanwhile, a huge contingent of police and paramilitary troopers were deployed on the roads in Srinagar and other sensitive areas.
The police and paramilitary troopers had erected concertina wires on the main roads to thwart the vehicular and pedestrian movement.
All the shops, colleges and schools and business establishments remained closed while the traffic was off the roads. Majority of the roads wore deserted look.
Meanwhile, a top police official told KNS that the situation remained peaceful throughout the day. “No incident was reported throughout the day,” he said. (KNS)
