D&FCO suspends 30 drug licences for violating norms

SRINAGAR: Under the instructions of Minister for Health & Medical, Bali Bhagat, the authorities of Drugs & Food Control Organization (D&FCO) carried out at 10-day special drive in Jammu district to ensure sale of quality drugs and check the mis-use of habit forming drugs in the market.
During the course of the drive, the special empowerment teams constituted for the purpose conducted more than 150 surprise inspections on medical establishments in rural as well as urban areas across the Jammu district, checked the records of sale and purchases, lifted more than 60 statutory samples of medicines. The aurhorities initiated appropriate action against the 30 traders, who were found violating various provisions of law and issued showcase notice to them. Meanwhile, the licence of these violators have been suspended.
During the inspection, the authorities also senstized the traders about the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetic Act, maintenance of records of sale and provisions, timely renewal of licences etc. The authorities also impressed upon the traders to ensure sale of quality drugs and discourge sale of habit forming drugs which are prohibited by the Government and warned for severe action if anybody found violating the standing instrucitons.
The entire drive was carried out under the close supervision of Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organization, Ms. Lotika Khajuria.
