Around 30,000 applications received under RTI Act: CIC

Srinagar: Stating that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are still unaware about the RTI act, the state Chief information Commissioner, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai Thursday said that they have received at least 30, 000 applications under the act in past one year.
Ganie while talking to KNS correspondent Tasaduq Rashid on the sidelines of the meeting here at Anantnag, said, “27,000-30,000 applications were received in past one year under the RTI act. According to our statistics one thousands applications has been received from each district of the state.”
He said that the number of applications received so far shows that the people are still unaware about the RTI act.
Meanwhile, giving details about today’s meeting, he said that it is necessary to interact with PIOs and other officers to ensure the implementations more effective.
“I am thankful to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag for arranging the meeting,” he added.
