Ramallah: Eight Palestinians were killed, including three children, and another 580 injured by Israeli gunfire in the occupied Palestinian territories in May, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said in a report issued Thursday.
According to the same report, a total of 34 Palestinians, including nine children and one woman, were killed by Israeli gunfire since the beginning of 2017.
Over the same period, the report goes on to note that at least 530 Palestinians were detained by the Israeli authorities in Jerusalem, the Israeli-occupied West Bank, and the blockaded Gaza Strip. The PLO report also points out that Israeli authorities demolished 16 Palestinian structures in May alone on the pretext that they were built without permits.
Over the same period, the report states, Israel approved construction of more than 400 Jewish-only settlement units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, while issuing tenders for an additional 209.
The report also cites 44 cases last month in which Palestinian shepherds and fishermen suffered injuries due to Israeli gunfire in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
