Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) chairman and Awami Action Committee President Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to remain under house arrest at his Srinagar residence, barring him from carrying out the religious and social activities in the holy month of Ramadhan—termed Hazrat Fatima(RA), the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a role model for the Muslim women across the globe in general and women of Kashmir in particular.
Mirwaiz, who was scheduled to deliver a sermon at the shrine of Hazrat Naqhsband sahib(RA) at Khawja Bazar on the eve of death anniversary of Hazrat Fatima (RA), but could not because of his house arrest and continuous curfew in downtown Srinagar said that the religious contribution made by the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), stands written in golden words in the Islamic history and jurisprudence and she deserves all the tributes for her deeds, which remain a torchbearer for the Muslims around the world.
Hazrat Fatima(RA), who is also known as a Khatoon-e-Janat, Mirwaiz said is a role model for our mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives as her way of life has always been the one shown by the Almighty Allah and his beloved Prophet (SAW). Mirwaiz urged the women of Kashmir to follow the footsteps of Hazrat Fatima (RA) and try to adopt the life style as that of the Prophet’s daughter (RA) for ultimate success in this world and hereafter.
Expressing serious concern over the series of issues being faced by women in Kashmir on social, religious and political fronts, Mirwaiz said women have a major role to play in building and shaping a society and the women across the globe can take a cue from the way of life of Hazrat Fatima(RA) and follow suit.
Meanwhile, the spokesman strongly condemned the continuous detention of the chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and imposition of curfew in Srinagar. The spokesman said barring Mirwaiz from carrying out his religious duties in the holy month of Ramadhan tantamount to direct interference into religious affairs. The spokesman also strongly condemned the continuous detention of various Hurriyat leaders that incluing Syed Ali Geelani, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Advocate Shahidul Islam. The spokesman also castigated the government for conducting nocturnal raids on the houses of many youth in Pattan area of Baramulla and arresting them the spokesman termed the the act as highly condemnable.
