Tarigami chairs Environment Committee meeting

Srinagar: An introductory meeting of the Committee on Environment of Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of legislator Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami here today.
Legislators, Syed Mohammad Baqir, Rajesh Gupta, Daleep Singh Parihar, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Bashir Ahmed Dar and Anjum Fazili attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to make the Committee more dynamic and result oriented.
The Committee discussed environment challenges and steps needed to mitigate the problems resulting due to environmental degradation. The Committee discussed measures to restore ecological balance of the environment.
It was decided that issues related to the Environment and its allied Departments will be discussed in its next meeting and thereafter the Committee will formulate action plan to curb the menace of pollution.
It was given out that the Committee would conduct tour of Zanskar constituency in Kargil district soon.
The Committee also fixed its next meeting scheduled on June 12, 2017 at 2.30 PM in the Assembly Secretariat.
Among others, Special Secretary Legislative Assembly M R Singh, Additional Secretary Legislative Assembly Naseema Jan and other senior officials of Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting. (KNS)
