SRINAGAR: Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar said that the long pending bridges of Yachhama and Chattergul in Kangan will be completed by the October of this year and it will benefit a larger section of people in the area.
The Minister was speaking to various groups of people at a daylong visit to Kangan constituency. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and other officials.
The Minister said that the work on Yachhama Bridge was started payback in 2005 but the same was stalled due to multiple reasons. The Minister said that the government has taken up the bridge on priority basis and directed the officials to complete it by September. The bridge will incur a cost of Rs 7.2 crores. Similarly a bridge at Chattergul to be built at a cost of Rs 3 crores will also be completed by October, the Minister said.
The Minister said that the Government has taken up the initiative to complete all pending projects as the finances have been arranged for all of them. He said that there is no shortage of finances and people will cherish the fruits of development with the completion of various projects within a year.
The Minister also announced the 1 km road linking Gutlibagh with Wayil. The Minister said that the short road will be a viable alternative for the people of Gutlibagh and it will fulfill their long pending demand.
The Minister visited several villages in Kangan wherein he interacted with people and listened to their grievances. The Minister gave onset directions to officers for the redressal of these problems.
