Srinagar: National Conference on Thursday lashed out at BJP leader and Minister in the PMO, Dr. Jitender Singh and said faces and voices of repeated communal conspiracies against Kashmir shouldn’t talk of stability and peace. Talking to reporters at the sidelines of a party event in Srinagar, NC State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu said the people of the State haven’t forgotten and are well aware of Dr. Jitendra Singh’s communal and venomous role in engineering the economic and logistical blockade of Kashmir Valley in 2008.
“National Conference doesn’t need certificates of morality from those who rose to power by dividing the people of the State on regional and religious lines. We have always – while in power and while in the opposition – advocated that the Kashmir Issue is a political issue that requires a political solution. Unlike Dr. Jitender Singh, National Conference hasn’t waged a war of communalism and regionalism against any region or community in the State but believes in peace, amity and brotherhood among all communities and regions”, the NC State Spokesperson said.
The NC State Spokesperson said Mr. Omar Abdullah raised the need to resolve the Kashmir Issue in the presence of visiting Prime Ministers and also in the Legislative Assembly. “I don’t know if Dr. Jitinder Singh is ignorant of these facts or if he is pretending to be ignorant to flatter his party leaders and exhibit his loyalty to the BJP. Whatever the reason, Dr. Jitinder Singh would do well for his own sense of perspective to try and acquaint himself with facts. Half-truths might be acceptable within the BJP but don’t have many takers outside of the party”, Junaid Mattu added in the statement.
“As far as the people of Kashmir are concerned, for them Dr. Jitender Singh’s image as the face of the communally motivated economic blockage of the Valley overshadows his current position. Whatever Dr. Singh says is hence rightly viewed through the same prism of him being a force of disruption, regionalism and communal strife in the State”, the NC Spokesperson added. (KNS)
