Srinagar: The students continued to clash with the government forces at several places on Monday during which scores of students were arrested by the police.
Witnesses said that as soon as the students entered into the schools, the protests were inside the school premises in SP Higher Secondary School, SP College, MP Higher secondary School and Gandhi College.
The students later tried to march towards the main roads.
However, the forces didn’t allow them to proceed towards the main roads and tried to disperse them by resorting to tear gas canisters.
The students pelted stones on the forces, triggering clashes in the areas.
Witnesses said that at least eight students were arrested during the clashes in SP HSS while four were arrested at MP HSS today.
They informed KNS that one girl student of Gandhi College was also injured during the clashes.
Meanwhile, the photojournalists who were carrying out their professional duties were stoned by the forces during the clashes at Gandhi College, the photojournalists said.
Syed Muzaffar, a photojournalist told KNS that the forces attacked them with stones. “One photojournalist, Faizan Ahmad was beaten by the forces during the incident,” he added.
Meanwhile, the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Palhalan Pattan also clashed with forces during a protest march today.
The students according to the reports started marching amidst pro-freedom and anti-India slogans however they were intercepted by forces triggering clashes.
“Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling against stone pelting students creating panic in the area,” they added.
Meanwhile, a police official said that a few students tried to halt the teaching activity by resorting to stone pelting, who were dispersed by the police by using mild force.
He said that scores of students were also detained during the clashes. (KNS)
