Srinagar: Anjuman-i-Auqaf Jamia Masjid, strongly denounced the continuous house detention of its president Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The spokesman of the Anjuman said that by caging Mirwaiz, authorities have barred him from carrying out his social and religious responsibilities and it is the worst kind of political vengeance on part of the authorities.
The spokesman said that Anjuman had to call off the meeting which was to be presided by the Mirwaiz, to take stock of the preparations and arrangements for the worshipers at the historic Jama Masjid for the holy month of Ramzan commencing this weekend.
The spokesman also condemned the authorities decision of not allowing Moulana Ahmed Syed, Naqshbandi, the vice president of Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid, to meet Mirwaiz at his Nigeen residence. (KNS)
