Srinagar: Joint Committee of Private Schools (JCPS) today welcomed the Chief Minister and Education Minister for initiating revolutionary changes in the functioning of private schools that will greatly benefit every stakeholder in the state.
The Committee said that the New Education Minister and his team of dynamic officers have taken long pending decisions which shows the commitment of the honble Minister to bring positive change in the education sector. “One of our biggest demands was that the government should divest itself from conducting exams in lower classes and entrust the individual schools to conduct the exams right from class 5 to class 9,” said Showkat Choudhary chairman JCPS. “Now the Hon’ble Minister has in principle agreed that from now on private schools will hold these exams by themselves and there will be no Board exams for lower classes including class 8. This will relieve the students and schools of major burden of documentation, notifications and associated work of the examinations.”
The Committee has also been vocal about rationalising the few structure and stopping of undue harassment of private schools on account of fee collection. “The Minister and his team has assured us that all the issues including those related to fee structure will be resolved in a time bound manner,” said Chowdhary.
The Minister in his meeting with school representatives has called for ensuring quality education to students at every level. He said that Government is committed to ensure a balance between interests of schools and students alike. The Minister stressed on the need to give facilities to the students as per the fee structure and also asked them to employ the teachers with good educational qualification and pay the salary to teachers on time.
The Private Schools representatives pledged to cooperate with the education departments to redress all issues. (KNS)
