Srinagar: Strongly condemning the harassment and threatening of three Kashmiri students by Punjab police, Hurriyat Conference (G) said that despite assurances, intimidation and harassment of Kashmiri students seems no letup & not an iota of change is seen on ground.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) said that India is not a safe place for students and while blaming authorities for targeting students, said they are suspected everywhere and beleaguered simply because of their Kashmiri origin.
Referring to the statement of home minister India, Rajnath Singh wherein he had directed states to provide sufficient security to Kashmiri students, Hurriyat said, it is just to cover up their wrong doings and aimed to mislead international community.
Hurriyat (G) spokesman doubted the advisory issued to states and said that it proved mere hoax and Punjab incident vindicates and elucidates that situation remained unmoved.
Strongly criticizing state administration for their apathetic approach and indifference towards Kashmiri students, Hurriyat (G) said that they were never serious and never took tangible steps to safeguard Kashmiri students, pursuing studies outside state.
Ridiculing the Jan Sangh cadre, Hurriyat said that since they came into power in Delhi, the incidents increased and even now students are facing hostile situations and enormous difficulties at the hands of fanatical elements.
Hurriyat Conference (G) warned authorities and said that people won’t tolerate if harassment and bullying against students is not stopped. Hurriyat said that “In case harassment of students is not stopped, authorities will have to face dire consequences.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) condemned ‘90’s like crackdown on civilians in Oakey Kulgam & said that resorting to military might, assault & humiliating civilians, is highly shameful act. Hurriyat while referring to village Haf Shirmal, said that targeting families of militants is highly condemnable. The vast area in district Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Islamabad has been virtually handed over to Indian army, said Hurriyat (G) and civil administration is nowhere noticed on ground.
It is a collective punishment to innocent civilians, while referring to crackdown conducted by Indian forces. It is unjustified and violation of human rights, said Hurriyat.
Hurriyat (G) said that it is quite injustice & unethical to involve families of militants and said that on one hand police says that families should not be involved in these situations and while as they are doing otherwise and unnecessarily targeting families of militants. Blaming police and authorities for playing deceit, Hurriyat said that disciplined forces do never involve in such dirty games.
Terming crackdown in vast areas and against innocent people an act of state terrorism, Hurriyat (G) said that resorting to military might, assault & humiliating civilians is highly shameful and an act of state sponsored vandalism.
Hurriyat Conference (G) in its appeal to human rights organizations asked to use their influence and save life and dignity of common civilians in state. (KNS)
