Srinagar: Scores of activists of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Tuesday staged protest against the slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on Syedah Aasiya Andrabi and her close associate Fahmida Sofi.
The women activists of DeM assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
The protesting activists were demanding immediate release of Aasiya Andrabi and Fahmida Sofi.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating health condition of DeM chief and Fahmida Sofi , the protesters according to the KNS correspondent said that the health conditions of the women leaders are getting deteriorated with each passing day while the authorities continue to place them behind the bars.
While condemning the PSA slapped against both the leaders, the protesters demanded the authorities to release the leaders at earliest.
Saying that there were no reasons to keep the leaders in prison, the protesters said, “The leaders have been placed behind the bars without any reason and the inhuman and cruel treatment by the state towards the ailing leaders was condemnable in all terms.”
However, the protesting activists later dispersed peacefully.
