Amarnath Yatra-2017: DGP chairs high level meet to chart out security arrangements

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. SP Vaid chaired a high level meeting of police and Central Armed Police Forces officers for charting out security arrangements for the forth coming Amar Nath Ji Yatra.
The meeting among others was attended by ADsGP VK Singh, L Mohanti and Dilbag Singh, IsGP SJM Gillani, AG Mir, Alok Puri, SL Sharma, Jagjit Kumar and JP Singh, IsG CRPF Ravideep Sahi and Zulfikar Hassan, DIsGP SP Pani and GH Bhat, DIG ITBP, Narinder Paul Singh, AIsGP PHQ Mubassir Latifi, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Kulbir Singh, Abdul Waheed Shah, SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray, SSP Anantnag Zubair Ahmad Khan, SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmad Lone and officers from CRPF.
Besides, IGP Jammu SD Singh, DIG JSK AA Wani, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Varinder Sharma, DIG DKR Nissar Ahmad, SSP Samba and SP Kulgam attended the meeting via video conferencing.
Addressing the officers, GP directed that the officers, both jurisdictional and those deployed for the yatra from Lakhanpur to the holy Cave for different duties must ensure personal supervision and regularly brief the jawans from time to time for smooth and incident free yatra.
DGP said that fool proof security arrangements should be put in place for the base camps at Bagwatinagar, Baltal and Nunwan and ROPs should be strengthened. The spots which are prone to law & order and militancy related incident should be identified and addressed. He directed the officers that law & order issues particularly at base camps need to be addressed promptly so that issues do not snowball. DGP directed that the nakas be strengthened and adequate security be provided to the lodgement and reception centres.
Dr. Vaid said that law & order components and QRTs must be placed on all the identified places to address any law & order or militancy related incident in the shortest possible time. He said that the regulation of traffic on all the roads used by the yatris from Lakhanpur to Baltal and Chandanwari be managed effectively in order to avoid the jams on the roads and delay in the movement of yatri convoys. It should also be ensured that stray vehicles are not mixed with the convoys and thereby enhancing the risk of incidents. He also directed for deployment of adequate rescue teams on both the axis of Pahalgam and Baltal for help and evacuation of the injured yatris.
IGP Jammu, DIG JSK, DIG Udr- Reasi, DIG DKR briefed the DGP regarding security arrangements put in place in Jammu division. They also placed before the DGP requisitions which the DGP said will be taken care of.
IGP Kashmir, SJM Gillani gave a detailed power point presentation, highlighting the inflow and out flow of yatris on both Baltal and Pahalgam axis. He highlighted the different aspects of the yatra and gave a detailed resume of the security arrangements placed in place with regard to the threat perception, control and regulation of yatra at camps and enroute. He also briefed the DGP regarding the structures and sub structures regarding area domination, ROPs, MRTs to be placed for the safety and security of the yatris.
The officers of CAPFs also gave their suggestions and shared their security plans in the meeting. (KNS)
