DC Srinagar inspects astro turf facilities in schools in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, MAY 09: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone today conducted inspection of four schools in district Srinagar to review the progress work of Astro-Turf facilities getting laid there.
District Sports Development officer of JK Sports Council and other concerned officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner.
During the inspection the DC was informed that under special development programme astro-turf facilities in government High School Chattabal is getting constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 11.50 lacs, whereas for Govt MPML Higher Secondary School Bag-i-Dilawar Khan the facility is getting established at a cost of Rs 8 lacs. In Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Khanyar the astro turf is getting laid at a cost of Rs 32 lacs and in Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Nowhatta the turf is getting laid at Rs 31 lacs. The DC was informed that students can play basket ball and volley ball on the turfs without any difficulty.
DC directed the executing agencies to speed up the remaining works within stipulated time frame.
Lone also interacted with students and inquired the sport facilities being provided to them.
DC also inspected Smart class room cum computer lab in Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Nowhatta and directed the teachers to train the students with dedication.
