Srinagar, Feb 16: Civil Society Forum Kashmir (CSFK) on Sunday expressed huge concern over unabated availability of alcohol across Jammu & Kashmir.

In a statement issued to INS, it was stated that thousands of youth and other age groups are being spoiled at an alarming rate by policy of easy availability of alcohol across Jammu & Kashmir.

“At the same time when many states in country are being turned into non alcoholic states on other part no effort is being left to ensure easy and free availability of alcohol in Jammu & Kashmir. Jammu & Kashmir is already struggling with huge number of drug addicts in recent times, easy availability of alcohol is proving disastrous,” it reads.

Jammu & Kashmir police has taken ample steps to curb supply of heroin and other forum of drug addiction butunfortunately now addicts are shifting from heroin to huge consumption of alcohol as per the doctors.

Civil Society Forum Kashmir appealed to government and society at large to ensure Kashmir which is considered heaven on earth should not be turned into alcohol haven.

Alcohol consumption brings in huge challenges for society like domestic violence, thefts, crimes and heath deterioration of youths at an alarming rate Civil Society Forum Kashmir appeals to government in particular and public at large to ensure curb on mushroom growth of alcohol shops across Jammu & Kashmir, the statement reads.
