Road Accidents: Students with vehicles won’t be allowed to enter KU premises without helmets, licenses

Srinagar, Nov 20: After the government decided to go tough against the road traffic violations, the University of Kashmir has decided not to allow any student to enter into the premises without the crash helmet and also the driving licence.

Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, Chief Proctor, KU, told INS that no student will be allowed to enter into varsity premises along with their vehicles without the crash helmets and the driving license.

“We will ensure that the directives are followed in letter and spirit,” he said, adding that such a decision was taken to ensure the safety of the students, driving two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

Pertinently, the action was initiated against the traffic violators following a fatal.road accident at Tengpora in which two minor boys died.

Over 1000 vehicles have been seized while several other have been challaned for violating the traffic norms.
