Bizarre: settling a personal dispute under the garb of Braid chopping left a driver seriously injured

Rafiabad: In a bizarre incident of settling personal dispute, a tractor driver was thrashed by people in Rafia abad area of north kashmirs baramulla district after his employer refused to pay him his dues but rather raised hue and cry accusing him of being ‘braid chopper’.

Left at the mercy of unruly mob Jameel Ahmad Dar son of  Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Sarpara Rafiabad, was beaten to pulp, injuring him seriously. He was first shifted to Baramulla where from he has been shifted to SKIMS Soura for further treatment.

According to police handout, Jameel used to work as tractor driver  with one Mohd Sultan lone son of Abdul Subhan Lone of Gundchobutra Kralgund.

“On 16/10/2017, he went to owner’s house to get his salary amount  of Rs 50,000 lying with the owner, but to his utter surprise, the owner firstly, on one or other pretext refused to pay him and then labeled him as braid chopper and created a scene in the village which attracted attention of other villagers who without any confirmation beat him to pulp injuring him seriously,” Police said.

According to police, the mischievous elements ‘use this braid chopping as a tool in their personal disputes thus creating chaos.’ FIR has been registered in this regard at Police Station Kralgund against the accused and the investigation has been taken up, police said.
