In a first, procedure for endoscopic removal of intestinal tumor conducted successfully at GMC Anantnag

Anantnag, May 24: The Department of Medicine’s Gastroenterology sections at Government Medical College Anantnag achieved a major medical milestone with the successful endoscopic removal of an intestinal tumor (colonic polyp).

This groundbreaking procedure, the first of its kind at our institution, was performed under the guidance of HOD Medicine Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone and led by Associate Professor Dr. Mashkoor Ahmad Beg.

Dr. Beg was supported by a dedicated team including Farooq Ahmad Malik (Incharge, Gastroenterology Lab), Tariq Shabir (Endoscopy Technician), Layeek Gular (Endoscopy Assistant), Asif, and Tariq. Their expertise and coordinated efforts were crucial to the success of this complex procedure.

Dr. Beg expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, “This landmark procedure reflects our commitment to advancing medical care and providing innovative treatment options. I am incredibly proud of our team’s dedication and skill.”

The success of this procedure was made possible by the support and encouragement of our esteemed Principal, Professor Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb. Her commitment to fostering new developments and innovations has been a driving force behind our continuous progress.

“We are deeply thankful to Professor Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb for her visionary leadership. Her support has been vital in achieving this milestone and will continue to inspire further advancements,” added Dr. Beg.

This achievement showcases the advanced capabilities of the Gastroenterology section and underscores Govt Medical College Anantnag’s position as a leading institution in medical innovation and patient care in south Kashmir, a statement issued to INS reads.
