Major snowfall of season likely this weekend

Srinagar, Feb 13: Jammu and Kashmir is just a five days away to experience the major snowfall as the weatherman has predicted a three-day wet spell from February 18.

After the prolonged dry spell for nearly two months, the snowfall in the beginning of February month brought cheer on the faces of people, especially the tourism players.

However, the maximum temperature has once again improved and settled around 11°C in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

The night temperature nontheless, continued to settle below freezing point at all the stations of Kashmir.

Moreover, a private weather forecaster has predicted the season’s first major Snowfall during 17th-21st February.

“Higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir can receive heavy to very heavy snowfall like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, pahalgam,Doodpathri , Sinthan pass, Peer ki Gali, Zojila pass Razdan pass and few other upper reaches during above period,” he said

Plains of Kashmir would also see moderate to heavy rain with few inches of snow, he added.
