As WD affects J&K, visibility improves across Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 30: The dense fog that continued for the four straight days has come to an end after a weak Western Disturbance affected Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

Meteorological Director, Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy with dry conditions, adding that during December 30th & 31st a feeble western disturbance is approaching J&K.

On January 3 & 4, the weather is expected to remain cloudy with possibility of light snow at isolated higher reaches. “Overall there is no forecast of any significant weather activity till 4th January,” he said, as per INS.

Moreover, there was no respite from the biting cold here with Srinagar recording a low of minus 2.8°C.

Pahalgam, a tourist place recorded a low of minus 4.1°C while Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.0°C.

Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 2.5°C while Kupwara in north Kashmir has recorded a low of minus 2.3°C.

In Kokernag, the minimum temperature settled at minus 1.3°C.
