Srinagar: Joint Resistant Leadership on Thursday announced to call people to assemble in TRC ground for staging a peaceful protest demonstration against “attempts to change Muslim majority identity” of Jammu and Kashmir by ruling dispensation in India in ‘collaboration’ with PDP-BJP alliance in the state.
In a statement, the leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yaseen Malik said that to protest against the ruling dispensation’s “continuous attempts to change the Muslim majority identity and to legitimize its illegal military occupation of the J&K”, they have decided to urge people to assemble at TRC ground on October 14 to stage a peaceful demonstration.
“The Jammu and Kashmir is at critical stage of history and there is need to again make our demand for right to self determination felt to the world community through an exemplary protest demonstration which would be staged at TRC ground on October 14,” they said in a statement issued here.
“The protest demonstration has also assumed imperativeness in wake of the fascist statement by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and BJP leader Dr Nirmal Singh (calling for constitutional amendments to assimilate the Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India),” they said.
Besides, they said, the ruling dispensation through NIA “has spread a web” to malign true leadership, traders community, students and others in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The ruling government in India and so-called state government have entered into unholy alliance to abrogate Article 370 and special state-subject rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir  through Supreme Court,” they said and urged people to make the TRC march a success.
Resistant leadership particularly while appealing to youth asked to offer their services as volunteers and maintain discipline during said march towards Srinagar.
