Person involved in Sarpanch killing in Khanmoh identified, absconding

Srinagar: Police has identified the person involved in the killing of a sarpanch in Khanmoh area of Srinagar on Wednesday evening.
Top official in the police department told INS that investigation in the killing of sarpanch Sameer Ahmad Bhat has led them to a local guy.
“We have identified him and he is absconding,” the official told INS.
Sameer was killed Wednesday evening in Khanmoh area and had recieved multiple gunshots. He was associated with the People’s Democratic Party.
“He had recieved 3 bullet shots on the left side of his chest,” officials said, adding that he was rushed to hospital were he breathed his last.
Police officials told INS that multiple arrests were made following the incident and during the course of investigation they were able to zero in on the suspect.
“We are withholding the name, but people involved will be brought to justice,” he said.
