Normal life was affected in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday as authorities imposed weekend lockdown for end day on account of covid-19
Police and paramilitary forces placed barricades on roads at many places in Srinagar as well as in other district headquarters of the Valley and the Jammu region to prevent the movement of people. However, essential and emergency services are allowed
Most of the shops, and other business establishments remained shut while public transport was off the roads. Earlier, amid surge in covid-19 cases, the Government ordered “complete restriction” on non-essential movement during weekends in entire J&K.
According to an order by the State Executive Committee headed by Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, there will be night curfew from 9 p.m. to 6a.m. shall continue to remain in force in all districts along with the complete restriction on non-essential movement.
There shall also be complete restriction on non-essential movement during weekends in entire J&K,” the order reads, adding, “All Deputy Commissioners shall intensify testing and ensure full utilisation of available RT-PCR and RAT capacities. There shall be no drop in testing levels.”
