No forecast for any major rain, snow for two weeks in J&K, Ladakh: MeT

Srinagar, Oct 12: Weatherman on Tuesday said that there is no forecast for any major rain or snow for next two weeks in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

“Weather will be dry and mainly clear in both J&K and Ladakh till October 17th. There’s no forecast of any major rain/snow for next two weeks,” a meteorological department official said here.

He said Srinagar received rainfall 3.8mm of rain in 24 hours till 0830 hours while minimum temperature settled at 10.2°C against 7.3°C normal in the summer capital of J&K.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, had 8mm of rain and recorded minimum of 9.8°C, the official said.

Pahalgam received 0.6mm of rain during the time even as the famous resort in south Kashmir recorded a low of 3.8°C, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, had 4.8mm of rain and recorded a minimum of 6.2°C, the official said.

Kupwara had 6.8mm of rain while the north Kashmir district recorded a low 6.8°C on the previous night, the official said.

Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, also received rain of 4 mm and recorded a minimum of 1.5°C which is minus 3.2 below normal, the official said. Drass area of Ladakh was coldest place, recording a low of -2.3°C.
