Jammu, June 28: Army on Monday claimed to have foiled a “major threat” by averting two separate drone activities in Ratnuchak- Kaluchak military area in Jammu. The statement comes a day after two bombs were reportedly dropped inside the Indian Air Force (IAF) Station adjacent to Jammu Airport in Satwari area using the drones, causing minor damage to a hall and lawn besides injuries to two IAF personnel.

“On midnight of 27-28 June 2021, two separate Drone activities (one at 2345 hours and second t 0240 hours) were spotted over Ratnuchak- Kaluchak Military area by alert troops,” Lt Col Devender Anand, PRO (Defence), said in a statement.

“Immediately, high alert was sounded and Quick Reaction Teams engaged them with firing,” the defence ministry spokesman said, adding, “Both the drones flew away.”

He said a “major threat was thwarted by the alertness and proactive approach of troops.” “The security forces are on high alert and the search operation is in progress,” he added.

In Jammu Air Force incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has lodged First Information Report under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) after Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh described the blasts as “terror attack”. However the National Investigating Agency (NIA), whose teams have already visited the spot was likely to take over the case after a formal order is issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
