Srinagar, Feb 2:The government on Tuesday said that 33,80,234 Domicile certificates have been issued in Jammu and Kashmir till January 25.
The data was revealed by MoS, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). G. Kishan Reddy in a written reply by two parliamentarians—Kunwar Pushpendra Singh Chandel and Shrimati Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah—who had sought to know whether the Hindus have been attacked in Kashmir after getting original residence certificate and for purchasing land and promoting their business.
“The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has reported that upto 25th January, 2021, a total of 33,80,234 Domicile certificates have been issued in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said as per the reply, a copy of which lies with GNS.
“ It has been further reported that since the constitutional changes were made in August, 2019, 58 civilians have lost their lives in 54 (militant) attacks for various purposes. No pattern of selective targeting based on religion can be established,” he said.
He said that as Jammu and Kashmir is battling militancy for last three decades, various measures have been taken to protect the life and property of the people, particularly those belonging to the “vulnerable sections.”
“This includes overall, as well as specific security arrangements, through appropriate deployment based on intelligence inputs, identification and arrest of supporters of (militancy), proactive operations to seek and arrest/ neutralization of (militants), intensified night patrolling and checking at Nakas, etc.” he said that Coordination meetings are held regularly and high level of alertness is maintained by the security forces.
