Srinagar: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) and Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday urged the people to offer congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar on coming Friday where special prayers for ‘Touba-e-Istegfaar’ will be held to ask Almighty Allah for repentance.

In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz urged people to attend these prayers in large numbers.

Calling the present situation in Kashmir a cause of great concern, Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar said that the society was grappling with serious issues and “we are faced with grave threats.”

The people of Kashmir need to turn back towards Allah and ask Him for forgiveness. “In this time of turmoil, when political, religious and social challenges have engulfed us it is essential that we ask Allah to relieve us of these burdens and give us the strength and patience to overcome these challenges,” the statement said.
