Srinagar: 139 fresh cases of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir were reported on Wednesday, taking the overall tally of the patients in J&K to 2857.
Sources said that among the cases, 30 were reported from Jammu division and bulk, 109, were reported from Kashmir and include travels and 26 pregnant women.
Among the fresh cases, one was reported from Anantnag, Kulgam 2, Srinagar 14, Kupwara 10,
Baramulla 27, Shopian 24, Bandipora 9, Budgam 6, Pulwama 13, Ganderbal 3,
Jammu 10, Udhampur 3, Poonch 10, Samba 3 and Rajouri 4.
Meanwhile, the government said that after the arrival of returnees led to surge in number of positive cases in Pulwama, the COVID test of quarantine Staff in a school has returned positive after administration adopted aggressive random sampling.
All the officials associated with quarantine duties were sampled which include team of Nodal Officer , Municipality Officials , Service Providers from PDD and PHE, Cooks besides ANCs , Elderly and people with compromised immunity levels.
“The School was designated as a quarantine Centre for returnees from various parts of the country, around 72 inmates were housed in the centre and were later on sampled for COVID-19.”
Later on 12 members of quarantine staff were found positive for COVID-19 while 10 Staff members were already put in administrative quarantine. contact tracing in this regard has been almost completed as 44 primary and 73 secondary contacts have been traced and subsequently put in administrative quarantine at various facilities.
The Authorities have already initiated aggressive sampling in red zones as per guidelines issued by the government time and again, officials said.
They added that the timely quarantining and sampling of suspects have averted a looming potential surge in infection in the community.
