Srinagar: Two militants have been killed in ongoing gunfight with government forces in Khud Hanjipora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, police said.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar (IPS) told a local news agency that two unidentified militants were killed in the “ongoing operation”.
“02 unidentified (militants) killed in an encounter at Khud Hanjipoa area of Kulgam. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition recovered. Search continues. Further details shall follo,” police said in a tweet.
Khud Earlier a joint team of Police, army’s 34 RR and CRPF had launched cordon search operation in Hanjipora.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
