Awantipora: Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered one-kilogram charas from their possession, officials said.
SDPO Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Choudary said that a Naka was laid by the police at RH canal crossing in Awantipora. A Creta vehicle (JK03H 8526) was intercepted and during its search, one kg charas was recovered. Two persons namely Ishfaq Amin Bhat and Yawar Ahamd Dar, residents of Chersoo area in Awantipora, were arrested.
“Besides arresting both the drug peddlers, the vehicle they were traveling in was also seized by the police,” he said.
Meanwhile, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station Awantipora and investigation started.
The police have requested the general public to cooperate with them in curbing drug menace.
