Srinagar: Amid reports that Government has put Air Force and Army on Operational high alert, Former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has said that such measures cannot be for delimitation or any decision on Article 35A.
“It points to something very different,” Abdullah said.
A pan India news gathering agency reported that the decision to put the two force wings on high alert has been taken in view of the ‘ongoing situation’.
“ In view of the ongoing situation in Kashmir valley, Government has put the Air Force and the Army on high operational alert,” ANI tweeted.
In another tweet the news agency said: “For the rapid induction of CRPF and other paramilitary troops into the Kashmir valley, Government has pressed Indian Air Force aircraft including the C-17 heavy lift plane into service.”
Former chief minister Omar Abdullah was quick to respond to the development, he wrote on twitter that the developments happenings in valley only point out to ‘something very different’.
“What “on going situation” in Kashmir would require the army AND the Air Force to be put on alert? This isn’t about 35A or delimitation. This sort of alert, if actually issued, would be about something very different,” Abdullah said.
Abdullah along with Dr Farooq and NC MP Hasnain Masoodi had met PM Modi and requested him to not take any measures that would worsen the situation in valley.
There seems to be no answer as to what the ‘ongoing situation’ in valley is, MHA however played down the recent forces deployment to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to ANI MHA Sources on reports of additional troops being deployed in Jammu & Kashmir have said that 100 companies had been ordered for deployment about a week ago, which are in the process of reaching their destinations.
“This has apparently led to speculations of induction of additional forces,” they said, adding that it is done on the basis of assessment of internal security situation, training requirements, the need for paramilitary troops to be rotated for rest and recuperation.
They have said that induction and de-induction of central forces is a continuous and dynamic process.
