Kupwara: Scores of Integrated Child Development Scheme workers on Thursday held a massive protest against the recent government decision of getting their salary and attendance signed from concerned Sarpanchs without which they cannot  avail the honorarium.

Protesters blocked Chowkibal-Kupwara road, raising slogans against ICDS department and state government for issuing an order which they say ‘is morally, ethically against them’. .
“Being a government servant we’re forcefully being asked to work as maids of Sarpnachs which is totally injustice with out duty”, Shameema, one of the protester said.
One of the helper one among the protesting women  said that, Department has asked  them to donate land for the construction of centers at concerned places against zero compensation or monthly charges, which they termed as, “oppression by government”.
“Almost all the Sarpanchs are uneducated and don’t have proper knowledge of affairs. There was a day when they used to visit us for petty interests of getting different eatables from our centers now they’ll inspect us which is totally unacceptable,” they complained.
